Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the withdrawal of $1 billion from the country’s Excess Crude Account, saying that the money was earmarked to be used for the upcoming 2019 Presidential elections, and not to fight Boko Haram as stated by the Federal Government.
Recall that on Thursday, the 36 Governors of Nigeria approved the withdrawal of the funds, in order to fight ‘Boko Haram’, but the development has been met with stiff criticism.
Fani-Kayode in a series of tweets, said that the APC government was planning to use the money to finance the 2019 election campaigns, and not to fight terrorism. He alleged that the funds will be shared between cabals and party leaders.
He tweeted: “$1 billion is to be taken from the badly depleted Excess Crude Account to ‘fight Boko Haram’.
“This is a lie. The $1 billion will be used by Buhari and his APC to fight the 2019 Presidential election, and part of it will be shared between party leaders and the cabal.”
