The Federal Government of Nigeria, has finally announced the withdrawal of the operational licence of Integrated Logistics Facilities Limited, INTELS, a company partly owned by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, that provides logistics and facilities services to the country’s oil and gas sector.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, CGI, Muhammad Babandede, handed down the directive in a statement by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, Sunday James, an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration.
Other companies, whose licences of operation were withdrawn alongside INTELS, according to the statement, included: PRODECO International Ltd, West Africa Machinery Services Ltd, Net Global System International Ltd, MGM Logistics Solutions Ltd, as well as ORIEAN Investment Ltd.
Apart from the withdrawal of operational licences, Babandede also ordered the revocation of Residence Permits of the expatriate staff of the affected companies.
Consequently, the affected workers have been given up till November 30, to leave the country, or risk deportation.
The CGI derived the withdrawal and revocation powers from section 39 subsection 1 of Immigration Act 2015, and section 5 subsection 5 of the Immigration Regulation 2017.
“The Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, hereby revokes the Residence Permits of the expatriate staff of the under-listed companies, in the exercise of the powers vested on him in section 39 subsection 1 of Immigration Act 2015, and section 5 subsection 5 of the Immigration Regulation 2017, after withdrawal of the operational licenses of the under-mentioned companies by the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority.
“Consequently, the CGI has directed that the expatriate staff of the affected companies above, leave Nigeria not later than 30th November 2017, failure of which they might be recommended to the Minister of Interior for deportation”, James said.
Recall, that the Federal Government had earlier terminated INTELS Nigeria’s pilotage contract with the NPA, over allegations that the firm did not comply with the government’s directive on the Treasury Single Account, TSA.
In September, the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, directed the NPA to terminate the contract with INTELS.
It was gathered that Property Development Company Limited, PRODECO, was initially established as an in-house construction organisation within the group, but currently serving as a large operating company within the oil and gas industry in Nigeria.
The company was incorporated in March 1996, as a property development company. Over the years, PRODECO has engaged in building and marine construction, infrastructural development, and project management for various clients, both in the oil and gas industry and outside.
