It is not going to be business as usual as new Police Commissioner, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, resumes duty in Edo State.
The new Police boss in the state has reportedly read the Riot Act to criminals in the state and declared his intention to make Edo State unbearable for them as he vowed to start a new regime for crime fighting in the state.
Recall the state has passed through a turbulent period recently as resident live in perpetual fear of the unknown resulting from constant attack by criminal elements.
He made the disclosure during a working visit to the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki at the Government House in Benin City.
Speaking, urged the residents of the state to go about their lawful duties noting that Edo State under the police command will not in any way criminal activities under any guise.
He said: “I want to assure you that Edo State will no longer be a haven for criminals; I advise them to leave the state.
“Edo people and residents of the state should go to sleep with both eyes closed because there will be proper policing both in the day and at night,” the new CP said.
Commending the new Police Commissioner, Governor Obaseki minced no words while expressing confidence on the ability of the new police boss to fight crimes in the state while also assuring him of the needed support in this regard.
He said: “we will give you the needed support to succeed. We believe that the responsibility for restoring law and order rests with the police.
“We hope that you will fulfil your constitutional responsibility by helping us enforce law and order in Edo State,” the governor added.
