The new government in The Gambia has unveiled and perfected plans to further annihilate and wipe out all traces of former Gambian dictator, Yahya Jammeh by disposing of all aircraft acquired while he was in power, the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr. Amadou Sanneh, has said.
The lawmakers were told in the Gambian capital of Banjul during a press briefing by the Minister while presenting the revised 2017 draft estimates of revenue and expenditure.
The planes which are parked at the airport of Banjul together with four landed properties, our source revealed, would be disposed of before the end of 2017 which is expected to generate a whopping D471 and this money, other things being equal would be returned to the state coffers to address the economic challenges plaguing the country triggered by the prodigal Jammeh's government.
Meanwhile, other steps have also been taken by enlisting the help of the Stolen Assets Recovery Unit of the World Bank to ensure the recovery of the stolen wealth under Jammeh's rule.
This follows the accusation of large withdrawal of government funds by the ex-Gambian leader.
As part of punitive measures, the new government under President Adama Barrow has since descended on the erstwhile dictator by freezing his assets and seizing no fewer than 131 landed properties all over the country.
