Abia Police boss, Adeleye Oyebade, has warned men of the Abia State Police Command against extortion and also to guard their arms jealously to avoid accidental discharge.
He gave the warning at Abayi Police Station, Aba, when the Tactical Response Squad (TRS) was launched.
The reason for setting up the Tactical Rapid Squad (TRS), he said, is to check and tackle crime and criminality in Aba and other parts of the state adding that his administration will not tolerate any form of extortion by policemen.
As part of the efforts to beef up security in the state, the CP Oyebade said the state would provide about 20 vehicles and walkie-talkies for patrol teams for effective communication and to increase response time to distress calls and expressed thanks to the thanked the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for agreeing to send more men and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) to the state.
