Thousands of supporters of the late first civilian Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, have gone on rampage.
It was gathered, that the supporters who went haywire at Adeleke’s house, on Sunday afternoon, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, vented their anger on Newsmen who came to cover the developing story.
One of the Reporters, Tope Alabi, of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, was beaten to stupour, with the station’s camera damaged and seized.
As at Press time, the Newsmen were said to be taking refuge in a hotel close to the house, while waiting for the tension to ease.
Until he died, there was no reported misunderstanding between Adeleke and Aregbesola, however.Meanwhile, some of the supporters have accused the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, of being behind the sudden death of Adeleke.
Though there have been reports that Aregbesola may head to the Senate after completing his tenure as Governor next year, he is not from the same Senatorial District as Adeleke.
Aregbesola is from Osun East Senatorial District, while Adeleke is from Osun West Senatorial District.
Recall, that Adeleke, who decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC , in 2014, to become the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District for the third term, died at Biket Medical Centre, Osogbo, where he was rushed to, after complaining of a stomach ache.
Hale and hearty until early Sunday morning, he attended a social function of a party member in Iwo, on Saturday evening.
A family source, said he was complaining of serious stomach upset, after he arrived from the Iwo function, and asked his Aides to call his younger sister, Dupe, whom he was fond of.
Adeleke, was then rushed to the hospital at 6 a.m., and died a few hours after being admitted.
