Information reaching Post-Nigeria, revealed that 68 Senators from both the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have secretly signed signed Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s impeachment notice.
The source who confided in Post-Nigeria, said the plot to “get Saraki out of the way”, was hatched when the National Assembly was on recess.
He quickly added that a top ranking Senator from the North-East has been positioned to take over from Saraki, immediately after the “deal is done”.
He further alleged that the impeachment notice was signed following the report that Saraki may switch loyalty and decamp with the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to the PDP.
This revelation came on the heels of the warning from Senator Isa Hamman Misau, that the plot to remove Saraki from office has remained strong, over fears that he may defect from the APC, thus, creating problems for the party.
“When we were on holiday, so many people were going behind, pleading that we should try and remove the Senate President.
“It was a Minister that was spearheading this thing. What was the reason? They said that the Senate President would leave APC, that it would create problems from him (Saraki). What kind of country is this? Everything is about religion and about the tribe”, Misau had said.
The source who spoke to Post-Nigeria however, was unable to mention the name of any of the Senators who had purportedly signed the impeachment notice.
All effort made by our Correspondent to confirm the veracity of the allegation from Saraki’s media office, proved abortive.
