Reports reach our newsroom say at least eighteen passengers were burnt to death in a motoring accident that occurred along one of the ever busy Nigerian highways in Ondo State, an eyewitness said.
According to his account, the accident took place along Akure-Owo road somewhere along the Uso portion of the busy highway.
His words: ‘No fewer than 18 people were roasted to death in an auto crash which occurred along Akure-Owo road. The accident which happened around 5pm occurred at Uso area of the road leaving the victims burnt beyond recognition. My correspondent in Owo confirmed to me that the two buses loaded fully with passengers collided with a truck that is loaded with petrol.
Fire started immediately and many of the victims were trapped in the accident resulting in their death.
Some of the victims were students of an institution from Osun who were on an excursion.Federal Road Safety Commission and Fire Service of Ondo State sector were all helpless but they tried as they can but people burnt beyond recognition’
