Top sources have revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, October 24, summoned Governors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, for an emergency meeting in the Presidential Villa.
The meeting which was held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, also in attendance, was meant to address the issue of lopsided appointments, as it relates to the recent Ambassadorial nominees.
The Governors were led to the meeting by the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, who is also the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
Post-Nigeria, had earlier reported that most of the 23 APC Governors were unhappy, because their candidates for the Ambassadorial posts, were rejected by the Presidency.
“Indeed, if Buhari fails to pacify the APC Governors in today’s meeting, especially over the choice of Ambassadorial nominees, a few may end up the way of some members of the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, who were not confirmed by the Senate recently, following the plethora of petitions against the nominees to the board of the regional commission,” a source said.
Post-Nigeria also gathered that, the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, refused to attend the emergency meeting. It was further gathered, that the Presidency refused to extend any invitation to the APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, to attend the meeting.
