In a recent poll conducted by Post-Nigeria, a cross section of Nigerians have given their verdict, over the lopsided political appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It could be recalled, that since the inauguration of President Buhari on May 29, 2015, as the 6th Executive President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, many Nigerians across board, have consistently kicked against his lopsided appointments, which have majorly benefited his kinsmen from the North.
Post-Nigeria, in a poll recently conducted, which asked  “Does President Muhammadu Buhari’s Appointments So Far Reflect Federal Character?‎ Showed that: Out of 1,327 votes of Nigerians who participated in the poll, 1,028 representing 77 percent of the population disagreed, while 18 percent representing 243 votes agreed.

Meanwhile, those who opted to be Indifferent, represented 4 percent of the population, with a meager 56 votes.
The lopsided appointments include those of the Permanent Secretaries, Directors-General in Extra-Ministerial Departments and Parastatals, Directors in Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments, Senior Military Officers, Senior Diplomatic Posts and Managerial cadres in the Federal Parastatals, Agencies and Institutions.

The unabating frequency of this major appointments, has triggered diverse reactions and counter-reactions among citizens.
Research has it that only 25 percent of the President’s appointments are from the South, while an overwhelming 75 percent comes from the North.
Out of these percentage, Buhari’s North-West geopolitical zone, has the largest share of 43 percent, while the South-East, has little or no major appointees.
With statistics available to all Nigerians to judge, which has sparked widespread anger and dissatisfaction across board, as most regions have nicknamed Buhari as ‘King of the North’.
Post-Nigeria had earlier reported, that 14 out of the nation’s 17 security agencies, are currently being headed by Northerners, of which majority were appointed by President Buhari.
A recent survey has further shown, that only three security agencies are headed by Southerners, a situation which the Igbos have perceived as “worrisome.”‎
For example, the most recent sack and replacement of 17 Chief Executives in the Ministry of Education, favoured majorly Northerners, as only 2 or 3 positions were given to the South.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had in several statements, slammed the President for trying to plant the seed of discord among Nigerians, through his lopsided appointments, chief among all that broke the camel’s back, was the appointment Lawal Daura, as the Director General, DG, of the Department of the State Security Service, DSS, with the party insisting that he is a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, recruited to act out a script crafted by Buhari.
The then National Publicity Secretary of the APC, now Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, had in his submission insisted that Buhari was right in his appointments, as the party was fully behind him.
‎The President who later summoned courage to react to the numerous criticism, had in a statement faulted those criticizing his lopsided appointments, saying that the constitution gives him the prerogative to choose anyone he wishes to appoint.
Post-Nigeria gathered that, with the current trend in Nigeria, President Buhari must brace up for more instability in the country, as those who have not felt the government’s recognition and presence, are daily threatening to tear the country apart.
