28 Years Old Nigerian Drop Out, Shocks The World, Breaks APC’s Record

After many days of deliberation and sifting through over 300 entries, the Kogi at 25 Committee, has announced the winner of its logo design competition.

He is 28 years old, Mohammed Umoru, from Okene Local Government, in the Central Senatorial Zone of the State.

Umoru, according to a statement by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mohammed Imam, made available to Post-Nigeria, the graphic art designer, lives in Minna, the Niger State Capital.

The first of four children and breadwinner of his family, Umoru, bagged his secondary school certificate at the Government College, Bida, Niger State.

He lost his father in 2012, and had to suspend his plans for higher education. His mother lives in his hometown of Okene.

Asked how he learnt about the competition, Umoru said, “My kid sister, who is a student in the Nasarawa State University, told me about it. She does a bit of catering services on the side, and I help her out with some of her design needs.

“She heard some of her friends and clients were taking part in the competition, and encouraged me to also send my entry. I’m glad I took her advice”, he said.

Umoru, added that he plans to use some of the N300,000 prize money to purchase new graphics design software and equipment.

Thanking the Government of Governor Yahaya Bello, for giving the youth a fair chance, and providing the opportunity to design the logo for the August event, the young man promised to remain a good ambassador for the State wherever he goes.

“I believe Kogi State will be great. We should all work with this young Governor to achieve the New Direction dream. That is the way to go,” he said.

The date for the unveiling of the logo, and the presentation of the prize money by the Chairman of the Kogi at 25 Committee, Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, will be announced soon.
