Another militant group, Niger Delta Warriors, yesterday threatened to carry out attacks on South African companies in the country if members of the public continue to patronise them.
The group also said it was solidly behind the Niger Delta Watchdogs (NDW), the Niger Delta Volunteers (NDV) and the Niger Delta Strike Force (NDSF), which issued similar threat a few days ago. It said it was unacceptable for South Africans to embark on a killing spree of Nigerians while South African companies operating in the country make huge profits without being attacked by Nigerians.
A statement issued yesterday, which was signed by one Henry Okon Etete, said nothing would stop the coalition of militant groups from attacking more than the 18 South African companies.
He said: “We have studied the recent press release by the Niger Delta Watchdogs (NDW) in conjunction with the Niger Delta Volunteers (NDV) and Niger Delta Strike Force (NDSF) with great concern. We have seen that it is in the interest of the nation and Nigerians in general.
“We, therefore, give our total and unalloyed support to the joint action. We, hereby, declare our total support; and will join the reprisal attacks on the companies and persons from South Africa living and doing businesses in Nigeria.
