President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that fighting corruption is the most difficult aspect of the All Progressives Congress, APC, agenda to accomplish.
Buhari, who stated this at a Special Presidential Interactive session with Community Leaders, in Kano, today, said his administration had recorded tremendous successes in all the three APC agenda; security, economy, and fight against corruption.
“My administration came on board with three agenda, security, economy and fight against corruption but the fight against corruption is the most difficult one to achieve.
“We are currently planning to sell all the forfeited landed properties and return the monies to the federal government’s coffers. I have realised my past mistake and I will not repeat it again.
“When I was military head of state, I confiscated some landed properties from looters, but after I was arrested and subsequently jailed for three years, the same properties were returned to the looters. So, I will not allow this to happen again”, Buhari assured.
The President added that whoever is fighting corruption for the sake of God should therefore, wait for the reward in the hereafter.
He said it was in the public that a Supreme Court Judge that was accused of corruption, was found in possession of four diplomatic passports and some cash, including dollars, pounds sterling and naira, in his house.
Buhari regretted that it was unfortunate that the man that was passing judgments of 20 to 30 years jail terms on others, and sometimes judgment for execution of criminals, was found guilty of violating laws.
On the fight against insurgency, Buhari said things had to be done with extra precautions.
“If you are not at peace with your neighbours, you are in trouble. That is why when I assumed office, I visited Chad, Niger Republic, and other neighbouring countries, and sought for their support. We need their cooperation to address the insurgency”, he said.
He affirmed that the insurgents that are killing innocent Muslims in their places of worships, were either ignorant of Islams, or they deliberately refused to follow its dictates.
Buhari said the agitations of Nigerians were still within the context of the APC agenda of security, economy and fight against corruption.
“We are still on the right track. Most of the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians are still revolving within the three agenda of APC”, he said.
