The southeast geopolitical zone is under siege by the Nigerian military, this is due to the activities of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB)
A former minister of education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has faulted the approach of the federal government to the issue
Dr Oby Ezekwesili, while speaking faulted the deployment of military to the southeast by the federal government of Nigeria.
In a series of tweets by the former minister on Wednesday, September 13, Ezekwesili urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to stigmatize the Igbo tribe because of the activities of IPOB.
She advised the government to handle the agitation from the group with what she called “appropriate mechanism.”

Ezekwesili urged the president to ascend a moral high ground and lead a conversation on unity.

She accused the president of deliberately or inadvertently alienating a segment of people he leads, describing it as “tragic.”

The presidency is yet to react to the tweets by the former minister.
