A non-governmental and non-profit making organization, the Coalition of Civil Society Group, CCSG has commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai over his unprecedented effort at ensuring that the Nigerian Army enjoys new welfare packages.
The group in a Press Statement signed by it national coordinator, Barr. Chukwuemeka Christopher Okoye, and the Media Director, Engr Olusegun Holloway said the new welfare packages as currently being enjoyed by the Army are already motivating them in the current fight against terrorism and the protection of territorial integrity of Nigeria.
According to the statement, part of the welfare packages now being enjoyed by the Army are; prompt payment of all monthly training allowances of all cadre at every 15th of the month. The statement further said the Nigerian Army does not now just received such allowances on the 15th, the new army authority under Buratai pays all it officers, both lower and higher cadres directly to their bank accounts.
Under Buratai, the fallen heroes' family now get 4 bedrooms flat from the newly introduced public-private partnership housing scheme.
Furthermore, Gen. Buratai in his bid to motivate the Nigerian Army fighting various insurgencies, has also initiated a well-planned life insurance scheme for all soldiers and other military men.
The statement reads in part: "...At Coalition of Civil Society Group, CCSG, we are not surprised at the recent feats recorded by the army in the fight against terrorist and terrorism. Thanks to General Tukur Buratai's innovative welfare packages the Soldiers and other military forces now enjoy."
"Before Buratai, we are made to understand that the Nigeria army's welfare was nothing to write home about. Allowances are paid in arrears, after several months, benefits of fallen heroes are delayed for several years, no practicable insurance scheme for the army among others. But as soon as President Muhammadu Buhari appoint Tukur, there have been great sigh of relief in the army. The army under Buratai now get a prompt payment of monthly training allowances at every 15th of the month, paid directly into their bank accounts; the fallen heroes family now get 4 bedrooms flat from the newly introduced public-private partnership housing scheme, among others", the statement said.
