It was a sad day for the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on hearing that Nigeria has exited recession, the worst in 29 years.
All efforts made by Post-Nigeria to reach Fayose through his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, to react to the world breaking news proved abortive, as the Aide went “incommunicado”.
Some Analysts have said that Fayose may attempt going on exile, upon handing over in 2018, if indeed he discovers that the Buhari administration ends up improving the lives of millions of Nigerians.
Fayose is one of the unrepentant critics of Buhari since the inception of the current administration.
Recall, that Post-Nigeria had reported earlier today, how recent data by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, showed that the Nigerian economy is out of recession.
In a swift reaction, the Presidency on Tuesday, said the Buhari administration welcomes news of Nigeria’s exit from a recession with “cautious optimism and will continue to drive Nigeria’s economic growth, by vigorously implementing the Economic Recovery & Growth Plan, launched earlier this year by President Muhammadu Buhari.”
The statement reads:
“The Buhari administration welcomes news of Nigeria’s exit from recession with cautious optimism and will continue to drive Nigeria’s economic growth by vigorously implementing the Economic Recovery & Growth Plan, launched earlier this year by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The overall economic plan and direction of the administration, has resulted among others, in sustained restoration of oil production levels, (occasioned by the enhanced security and stability in the Niger Delta), sustained growth in agriculture, mining, and the first growth recorded in industry as a whole, in the last nine quarters since Q4 2014.”
