The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday pacifies Charles Oputa that Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources will be deported to face trial in Nigeria.
The hint was dropped by the Executive Secretary of the anti-graft agency, Emmanuel Aremu while addressing a coalition of Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, led by ace musician, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charlyboy at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
CharlyBoy had led his supporters to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja demanding deportation of the former Petroleum Minister to face charges of huge embezzlement of government funds while in office.
While speaking to the protesters and commending Charlyboy for a rare display of patriotism, Aremu assured them that all due processes will be followed to ensure she deported to the country to face justice.
He said, “What you are doing in getting the support of the youths for the fight on corruption is good but one thing you must realize is that we are in a democratic setup and procedures must be followed.
“Unlike the Military when we craned a Nigerian from London back to the country, that era is done, we cannot do that again. We have MoU, other agreements on how to repatriate alleged citizens which will be followed.
“One thing I will let you know is that we are not relenting our efforts, you all are aware of how much and properties recovered from Dieziani, I beg for your patience, let us follow the due process.
“If the due process is done, Deziani will be repatriated to come and face her crimes.”
