The call to restructure the country should be directed to the appropriate quarters and not President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidency has warned critics.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu.
He cautioned critics to be mindful and exercise restraint in their choice of words to avoid heating up the polity and causing acrimony across the country.
Criticising the President in this regard, he said, is wrong adding that Buhari has no power to impose a restructuring on the country by military dictate.
He reminded Nigerians that the National Assembly members are the elected representatives of the people who can handle agitations for the restructuring of Nigeria and other constitutional changes.
He explained that the President is constitutionally bound to work with the National Assembly to deal with such complex issues, reminding critics that the President would not exercise arbitrary powers or bypass the legislature in taking such fundamental decisions.
