THE attack on Anambra Church that killed scores of worshipers today is abominable, barbaric, inhuman and the height of wickedness, the Speaker of Nigeria's House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said.
He said this in a statement made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media & Public Affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan.
He said he was heartbroken by the news and wondered what could have triggered the massacre of worshipers in cold-blood.
He described the attackers as sons ” sons of perdition whose souls will rot in hell.”
He said: “Have we lost our humanity? Where is the place of the sanctity of life and sacredness of worship places in our society? What offence did the worshippers commit to warrant their massacre in cold blood by wicked souls and heartless men?”
The Speaker lamented the insecurity ravaging Nigeria and called for an overhaul of the country's Police force to effectively combat crime.
However, Dogara called on Nigeria's security agencies to leave no stone unturned to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime and bring them to justice.
The Speaker extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the people, the Catholic Church and the government of Anambra State.
