The Court of Appeal in Abuja, has ordered the removal of Senator George Thompson Sekibo, as the Senator representing Rivers East District of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Recall, that Sekibo is the candidate of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The three-man panel headed by Justice Adamu Jauro, also declared Hon. Andrew Uchendu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the December 2016 Assembly elections.
The appellate court futher ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue Uchendu a fresh certificate of return.
Recall also, that Uchendu is the candidate of the Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi.
The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal had removed Sekibo, following a petition by Uchendu, alleging irregularities in the election.
