It was shocking, as the Presidency went behind closed door to host the Arewa youths, after President Muhamamdu Buhari’s nationwide broadcast, where he ordered the military to clamp down on those who are threatening the unity of Nigeria.
This came as the Arewa youths met with the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu, for the purpose of persuading them to review the October 1 massacre issued against the Igbos living in the North.
Speaking after the closed door meeting, Ojudu said the meeting was to discuss the quit notice issued on Igbos living in the region to vacate on or before October 1. He stated further that the groups had resolved to reconsider the quit notice on the Igbos.
He said he had a lengthy and resourceful meeting with leaders of the Coalition. He also disclosed that the outcome of the meeting will be made known at a Press Conference, on Thursday.
Senator Ojudu told Reporters: “Had a lengthy and resourceful meeting with leaders of the Coalition of Northern Groups today.
“They were the youths who some weeks ago shocked the nation, by issuing a notice to the Igbos to quit the Northern part of the country, on or before October 1.
“After the meeting, they resolved to reconsider their position, and this will be made known at a Press Conference on Thursday.
“They described their action as pre-emptive, because of the incessant threat of war by IPOB.”
