The embattled Governor of Etiki State, Ayodele Fayose, has debunked the news making the round, that unknown gunmen attacked the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Headquarters, in Wuse zone 7, Abuja.
This disclosure was exclusively made available to US, on Thursday, through his Media Aide, Lere Olayinka.
Recall, that the EFCC Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, had on Wednesday, disclosed in a statement, that heavily armed bandits invaded the office, and began shooting into the premises.
He added that the gunmen escaped in a getaway vehicle, but not without, leaving a message in a white envelope dropped by the fleeing attackers.
He said the white envelop contained a death threat addressed to Ishaku Sharu, a Senior Investigator with the Commission.
In a swift reaction however, Lere said: ”If you have been to the EFCC office in Abuja, you will know that the story of gunmen attacking the agency’s office is a LIE!!!
”I’m aware that there are CCTV Cameras on the street, and there is Security Check point at the entrance of the street.
‘The street is also a CLOSE, you get out through the same road, from which you enter.
”Also, there are barriers on the road, no vehicle can go beyond 30km/hr. How then were the assailants able to escape? And how can assassins come to attack EFCC office with a NOTE in an envelope, and now drop the ENVELOPE while escaping?”
He added: ”This is just like the Kaduna Airport CASH discovery, in which the CCTV camera in the Airport could not capture those who brought the FIVE SACKS full of cash into the Airport.
”Remember too that we are yet to be told the owner of that shop in Legico Shopping Plaza, Victoria Island, Lagos, where EFCC claimed it found over N400m cash?
”Methinks Ibrahim Magu should try another trick to secure his job. As for me, this tale of gunmen attacking EFCC office and dropping THREAT NOTE, does not add up.”
