Emerging report indicates that the Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has traveled out of the country for more than 100 days, without officially handing over to his Deputy, as required by the Constitution.
It was gathered that the absence of the Governor in the State has crippled governance, as civil and public servants have abandoned their duty posts to attend to their private activities.
The Governor’s office has become a ghost town, as hardly do you see the staff of the Governor’s office on seat.
Recall, that report had it that Governor Ben Ayade travels outside the State and country, more than any other Governor, and whenever this is done, the economy, social and political activities in the State, crumble.
As a result, the Cross River Transparency Network International, CRTNI, has called on the Cross River State House of Assembly to immediately commence impeachment process of Governor Ben Ayade, for alleged illegal foreign trips.
The group in a press conference in Calabar, alleged that since assumption of office, Ayade has travelled overseas more than any Governor in the history of this country, under the pretext of looking for investors for the State.
The Coordinator of the group, Comrade Jonathan Agbor, said it has become imperative for the State House of Assembly to impeach Ayade, for violating constitutional provisions of frequently travelling abroad without handing over to his Deputy, just as he squanders State funds on such trip.
Agbor said: “Since Ayade came on board, he has spent more days in Abuja and abroad, than he has spent in the State, adding that, out of 365 days in a year he spends less than 100 days in office.”
