When i hear people insult Nnamdi Kanu because of Biafra Agitation and those same people call Mandela, Malcom X, Gandhi, Martin Luther HEROES ?
None of them sat in the comfort of their houses to gain freedom they came out on the street held massive rallies, lives were sacrificed, people died most of them even died too
There is not a claim to freedom that has not exacted a price. Jesus, the son of God, had to lay down his life, for the freedom of those who will choose to believe him.
“The price for freedom is eternal vigilance.” As we celebrate the life and contributions of Nelson ‘Madiba” Nelson, I can’t help but ask, “Does freedom come freely ?”
Nelson Mandela
Mandela was a drastic fighter, he took the Apartheid struggle to the street, many south Africans lost their lives in the fight for freedom, he went to Jail for 27 years before South Africa gained their independence
On March 21, 1960, an organized group of protesters gathered at the police station singing liberation songs and asking to be arrested since they did not have their passes. Estimates put the number of protesters at 5000 to 7000. However, this protest did not end peacefully and at least 69 black Africans were killed and 180 injured (there are claims of as many as 300) when South African police opened fire at the township of Sharpeville, near Vereeniging in the Transvaal. The Sharpeville Massacre, as the event has become known, signaled the start of armed resistance in South Africa, and prompted worldwide condemnation of South Africa’s Apartheid policies.”
Following the Sharpeville Massacre, it is noted that Mandela realized that peaceful protest was highly ineffective so he co-founded and became leader of the Umkhonto we Sizwe, or Spear of the Nation branch of the ANC. I daresay that like abolitionist, Frederick Douglas, he too realized that power concedes nothing without a demand. If they wanted to be free in their own land, they had to be willing to lay down their lives for that freedom.

Martin Luther

Beaten, Stabbed, Jailed. Martin Luther Wasn’t Killed Until He Spoke Out Against War & Capitalist Greed.
Hated by the white supremacist just like the Hausa Fulani supremacist hate Nnamdi Kanu, Adaka Boro, Ken Sarowiwa, Asari Dokubor and anyone fighting for the right of their people from other regions in Nigeria.

In the mid-1950s, King was not yet committed to the    principle of passive resistance. He applied for a firearms permit during a period when his home and several Montgomery churches were bombed. He was more concerned family man than pacifist. It was not until later, according to King’s own writings, that he decided he could not advocate nonviolent resistance while resorting to armed self-defense. There was also the issue of gun ownership vis-a-vis his faith in God to protect himself and his family, or his persecuted race as a whole.
