A picture making rounds on the internet, showing the Ooni Of Ife,Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi exchanging pleasantries with the senate President Bukola Saraki sparked serious outrage yesterday, as the Ooni Ofe Ife’s posture made people believe the Ooni was bowing to greet the senate president.
This didn’t go well with people as they claimed according to tradition, a traditional ruler, especially one of high caliber as the Ooni of Ife isn’t meant to bow to anyone, rather, the reverse should be the case.
However, investigations carried out and reports reaching us by an individual present at the occasion, who pleaded to stay anonymous, indicates that the Ooni was actually seated when the senate president arrived, and the Ooni in a bid to greet the senate president who was standing on a higher ground had to stand up in other to meet the hands of the senate president.
Thus, the camera man coincidentally captured in the Ooni in a bowing posture while he in the process of fully getting up on his feet to greet the president, and a closer look to the circulated picture authenticates this claim.
It is therefore pertinent for the public to dispel any rumor indicating the Yoruba monarch bowed down to greet the senate president, as it was only a case of coincidental misinterpretation of event.
