It was tears and sorrow as a structurally weak three-storey building collapsed yesterday in Umuguma, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
The building which was under construction near Imo Specialist Hospital was reduced to rubble with many trapped in it.
Sympathisers, reports say, were seen trooping to the scene even as officials of the Owerri Capital Development Authority sealed off the premises.
An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen said, “It is shocking that what anybody can see of the three-storey building is the roof, which is now resting on the ground. It just looks like a big hole was dug under the building and the entire edifice sank.”
