FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo has called attention to the dangers inherent in beating the drums of war which he said the agitation for secession is capable of triggering of.
He made this know on Friday in Effrrun, Warri, Delta State. He recounted the horror and misery experienced in the last Niger-Biafra Civil War and said it is such a bitter experience he will never like to relive.
He warned that those who say or think Biafra will ever emerge without another bloody civil war should have another think coming.
Problems, he said, are better resolved than allowing it to snowball into full-blown conflict.
According to the former President, no single soul will be left among those who are beating the drums for secession when the bubble finally bursts.
He said. “I participated in the civil war and I said may I never have to participate in any civil war again in my life. It was gruesome. It was destructive. It was deadly.
He reminded the agitators that those who are egging them on in the ongoing agitation were not even born during the last civil war and those calling for it would be overwhelmed with its devastating effects.
''This is most especially for those are clamouring (of which I don’t even know what they are clamouring) they don’t know what war means. They don’t.”, he added.
