THE Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has read the Riot Act to killer herdsmen who reportedly raped and killed two women in Ewu community in Esan Central Local Government Area of the State identified as Mrs Christiana Ariu from Eko-Ojeme quarters and Mrs Matina Emonyon from Uzogolo quarters.
The governor while expressing outrage over the incident described the activities of the herdsmen killers as a threat to national security.
Speaking further on the incident, the governor said the herdsmen were none other than Boko Haram terrorists who probably fled from the northeast but assured residents of the state that his administration would deal with the menace within the next few weeks.
Part of the measure, he said would be to beef up security in the area especially on the boundaries between Edo and Kogi States.
He said: “These are not just herdsmen, they are Boko Haram terrorists but we are working hard to put an end to this.
“In a matter of weeks, we are coming out with certain measures to stop these attacks. We will rely on timely accurate information from all communities. I am going to see the Inspector General of Police on this matter.
“Don’t be scared of going to your farms. We have stepped up security in this area, from Kogi State.” he said.
