This is to inform the general public and our very loyal readers, that the story with the caption: “IGP Secretly Supplying Weapons To Northern Youths Ahead of Oct.1 Massacre – South-West Raises Alarm, Orders All Yorubas To Vacate The North”, published on June 11, 2017, by our site is totally false, mischievous, and misleading.
Afenifere, a Yoruba Socio-Cultural organisation, did not in any way connect the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, in that regard, to the alleged intended quit notice order, that was given by a coalition of Northern youth groups.
We, authoritatively gathered that the Inspector General of Police, IGP, who has over the years built a successful career in the Nigeria Police Force, cannot engage in such illegal activities.
We regret linking Ibrahim Idris, the IGP, to such unsubstantiated story that has gone viral all over the social media.
We hereby, tender our unreserved apology, for the misleading headline, that is capable of tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the IGP, Ibrahim Idris, and also capable of destabilizing the unity of our dear nation, Nigeria.
We now urge members of the public, to disregard the report as false, untrue, unsubstantiated, and misleading; and to remain law abiding citizens.
