No fewer than eighteen inmates comprising 15 males and 3 females at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison serving life sentences for various offences were recommended for release after spending about 30 years in prison.
They were asked to be released on compassionate grounds following an executive order signed by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Ambode.
While speaking at the small handing over ceremony held at the hall of the Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Chairman of the Council, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, who was represented by Bolatunmi Animashaun urged the inmates granted state pardon by the governor to discard their old ways as they get home and reunite with their families.
Reacting the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem, represented by Yejide Kolawole, advised other inmates to be of good behaviour at all times to qualify them for such benevolence in future.
