One of the vocal voices of the Northern Elders forum, Prof Ango Abdullahi said if the Igbo and other tribes that are agitating for breakaway states from Nigeria want to have a country of their own that the north will allow them to go.
He pointed out it is only a matter of discussion and also subject to negotiations.
He dropped the hint in a chat with Saturday Sun newspapers published on May 20, 2017, while answering questions on restructuring the country and many other national issues.
According to him, ''You see, the issue of Biafra is all part of the discussion of restructuring Nigeria. Yes, if Biafra means negotiations, yes, it’s all a matter of discussion, if it means Igbo want to have a country of their own separate from Nigeria, it means a matter of discussion and we are prepared for the discussion.''
He did not only refer to the IGBO who are agitating for a breakaway state of Biafra.
He said again that if Nigerians are tired of staying together calling to mind the agitation for Oduduwa and the Niger Delta Republic, they should, as a matter of fact, be prepared to accept divisions instead of remaining in agony and disappointment of one another.
''This is all I have been saying that if Nigerians are tired of staying together, they should be prepared to accept divisions instead of remaining in agony and disappointment of one another.'', he added.
