As the rat race for the 2019 Presidency continues unabated, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, has declared himself more competent to replace President Muhammadu Buhari, who many believe may not present himself for re-election, due to nagging health challenges.
The Governor, who scored himself high in governance, while inspecting on-going projects in Kubau Local Government, on Friday, said he was satisfied with the level of progress recorded in the projects being executed by his administration.
Before now, sources loyal to El-Rufai, had disclosed that in terms of governance, the Kaduna State Governor is second to none.
“No Northern Governor at present in Nigeria, can be rated higher above El-Rufai. He is better qualified to replace Buhari, if the need arises”, the source dropped the hint.
El-Rufai had visited Galma Dam, which would supply water to Zaria regional water project, expected to be inaugurated on May 27. Galma dam facility would be used for irrigation, to help in the development of the rural communities.
“I am happy with the progress so far on our entire project. The Shehu Idris School of Health and Technology Pambeguwa campus, is however not very impressive.
“Other than that, all our other projects are going well. I am very proud that much of the work is being done by indigenous Contractors, and they are doing good quality work.
“I am happy that Kubau Local Government is being well serviced with projects, and I am happy with the efforts being made by both the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Works, as well as the Member representing Kubau; they are doing well and the people are happy”, El-Rufai said.
He reiterated that his administration would continue to deliver more developments across the State.
In a swift reaction, sources close to the Acting President, stated that Osinbajo is committed to governance, rather than 2019 politics.
This came as the undaunted Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, in his unusual manner, spent meaningful time discussing and interacting with Traders in the Garki Market, Abuja, to feel the pulse of ordinary Nigerians.
The Traders maximised the opportunity to pour out their complaints, especially about the high cost of market stalls, and prices of food items such as fish, onions, and rice, in the primary market.
Specifically, Osinbajo, whose unexpected arrival stunned the Traders, interacted with individuals who called for the government’s attention on high cost of market stalls, which they put at N250,000 per annum.
Some who complained of inadequate markets stalls, also reported to the Acting President, the inability of the management of the market to complete and make available the stalls they had paid for, over a long time.
