Another attack on Igbo traders and businessmen has been reported yesterday in Obudu in Cross Rivers State.
Reports coming in say economic and social activities are witnessing a lull in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River state came to a standstill after a decision by the indigenes of the local government area to lock up market stalls shops, joints and retail outlets belonging to Igbo businessmen.
Our reporter gathered that the incident has been on for the past one week after uncomplimentary remarks by the Igbo that Obudu was exchanged for N30 during the Civil War.
The Igbo reports say now lay claim saying Obudu belongs to them and there dictate and control the tune of businesses and commercial activities in the region by becoming domineering , oppressive via cartels which arbitrarily fix prices.
Non-Igbo businessmen activities are often checkmated by Igbo businessmen in the locality. Irked by the sad turn of events, the relationship between the Igbo and the indigenes was said to have deteriorated resulting in attacks that they leave their land.
As of the time of filing this report on Yoruba, other Nigerians and the indigenes are now allowed to buy and sell in the entire local government area just as security operatives have been placed on red alert.
