Emerging report reaching Post-Nigeria, on Monday morning, from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, Suleja branch, stated that Mosques will soon be directed to pay electricity bills, just like Churches.
“Please, we have received instruction to commence metering all Mosques, and all places of worship, so that they will be start paying electricity bills”, one of the Assistant Managers who pleaded anonymity stated on the phone.
He added: “Remember, I granted you an interview, where I exposed the injustice going on, where Mosques are not allowed to pay electricity bills, while Churches are subjected to high monthly bills.”
“But, we are surprised to be hinted that all Mosques should be metered”, he said.
Recall, that Post-Nigeria had reported a few days ago, that Churches under the Suleja Local Area, in Niger State, are still groaning under the weight of ‘crazy bills’, and poor power supply from the electricity distribution firms, while Mosques are not meant to pay any electricity bills.
When our Correspondent then contacted the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company that covers the FCT, Niger, Kogi, and Nassarawa, through the GSM numbers, 08150181818, 08150191919, they refused to provide answers, as to why Mosques are not billed every month, while Churches are made to pay ‘crazy bills’.
“The Mosques in this city don’t pay bills. It is an instruction from above. No staff here can challenge that, except you want to lose your job.
“But it is unfortunate that they are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Churches are made to pay electricity bills, through their noses”, the source had said.
