The All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on the Presidency, to direct the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, to immediately make public, the assets of all public office holders in the country.
The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, made this disclosure on behalf of the party, when he received Traders from Kasuwanbeshi market, on a courtesy visit.
Sani argued that his request was with a view to sustaining the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
He warned that if the Bureau refuses to make public the assets of the President, Governors, and other public office holders, then the anti-corruption war would be dented.
While urging the APC administration to pursue policies that will improve on the welfare of Nigerians, in order to enjoy their support, Sani said the anti-corruption crusade of the regime can only be meaningful, if the Code of Conduct Bureau is directed by the Presidency, to declare public all assets filed by all public office holders.
“The wealth of Nigeria is not in Israel, Italy, or Dubai; it is not in off-shore account. It is in the files of public office holders at the Code of Conduct Bureau. Nigerians will never know how much their leaders have looted, until we open the files in the Bureau”, he said.
Sani said he shared the opinion of the Elder Statesman, Tanko Yakassai, who demanded the President, Governors, Lawmakers, and other public office holders, to make public their assets declaration, if Nigerians are to take the war against corruption seriously.
According to him: “When that is done, you will see the houses, mansions, and shopping malls, the amount of money starched in the Code of Conduct Bureau files.”
