Niger Delta leaders among whom is Ebitimi Amgbare, a former governorship candidate has lashed out at former militant leader, Asari Dokubo over his outburst against the tour and visit of Vice President, Prof yemi Osinbajo., Vanguard news reports.
He warned that the outburst against Yemi Osinbajo in the interview granted by Dokubo-Asari was misplaced adding that the visit has starting yielding tangible results.
According to him, the visit by the vice president cannot be called a jamboree but an action that aims to make the region better.
Dokubo-Asari asked Osinbajo to stop visiting Ijawland. He claimed that the federal government was not sensitive to the plight of the people of the Niger Delta.
In his reaction, Amgbare said: “The truth is that the vice president’s trip was not a jamboree but a very important visit in the sense that the government needed to build confidence to enable it carry out its programme for the Niger Delta.''
“He (Osinbajo) was able to meet with all stakeholders from the elected leaders to the ordinary people who made significant inputs on how best to address the myriad of problems confronting the region.''
''Some of the benefits have started manifesting and they include the presidential order directing the international oil companies to relocate their headquarters to the Niger Delta.'', he added.
