PRESIDENT Adama Barrow has lifted the ban on some foodstuffs and other consumables earlier banned by the exiled country's leader Yahya Jammeh.
Some of the foodstuffs and condiments lifted the ban on are onions, potatoes with a presidential directive to the contrary.
That is to say, importers are now permitted by law to import the above-named condiments.
Importers would also now heave a sigh of relief as the tax on the importation of flour has also been drastically reduced, DailyGlobeWatch reliably gathered.
Presidency sources quoted President Adama Barrow as saying ''It should be noted that the duty on imported flour has been reduced from 47% to the normal rate of 20% and the reference value shall be the transaction value and the additional measures of D1 per kilo of cement and 5% excise tax are now removed''
“The Government of The Gambia wishes to reaffirm that it will continue to pursue an open and liberal economy aimed at boosting trade and economic growth,” the statement added.
