Though President Barack Obama has left office, debate still lingers in some circles over whether or not the former president was actually born in the United States.
Malik Obama, the former president’s half-brother, tweeted a copy of what he claims is a valid birth certificate proving his half-brother was born in Mombasa.
On the certificate was Obama’s correct date of birth and includes the masthead, “Coast Province General Hospital, Mombasa, British Protectorate of Kenya.”

Black Republican radio show host Wayne Dupree thought Malik Obama’s decision to revive the birther issue was pointless.
“That’s old… he’s out of office now… moving on right?” Dupree tweeted. “You really think a Republican Congress is going to do something. Send it up. I’ll watch.”
The document appears to be similar to one that right-wing blogger Lucas Smith offered in 2009 on eBay.
At the time, Smith tried to sell the alleged birth certificate for $1 million, but eBay stopped the sale, citing its policy prohibiting the sale of any government-issued documents.
Obama was repeatedly hounded during his initial run for the presidency to release his birth certificate after rumors that he was born outside of the U.S. began to gain widespread popularity.
In 2011, Obama released his birth certificate, which was thought to put an end to the conversation. However, speculation continued all the way up to his final days in the White House.
During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump often said that Obama might not have been born in the U.S.
He eventually put the theory to rest six months ago where he said, “President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period.”
Trump then blamed the campaign of his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, for initially starting the rumor.
