Bayelsa Government warns that it will henceforth arrest herdsmen, who grazed elsewhere other than Bayelsa Palm area, the designated grazing site in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Chief Boma Spero-Jack, gave the warning in a statement he issued in Yenagoa on Friday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the warning came on the heels of the apprehension of some groups of herdsmen in the state.
The group was relocated from the Ijaw National Academy in Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state to the designated grazing site.
Spero-Jack stated that the warning became imperative because in spite directive to herdsmen to relocate to designated grazing site, a number of them refused to relocate to do so.
He said the decision to create grazing site was purely for security reasons, especially to avoid a possible breakdown of law and order.
The governor’s aide, however, reassured the people of the state that, the government would stop at nothing to protect their lives and property.
Spero-Jack, therefore, called for the cooperation of people adding that the state government was doing its best to avert breakdown of law and order.
He urged the people to be vigilant and assuring that the leadership of the state would not give control of any valuable land to herdsmen.
