The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olusola Amore, on Thursday said 11 out of 19 arrested suspects in connection with the mayhem in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, had been arraigned in court.
The crisis allegedly involved factional members of the Tricycle Association of National Union of Road Transport Workers and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria and occurred in the Gambari area of Ilorin metropolis.
A more, who spoke through the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi kasanmi, did not give reason why eight arrested suspects had not been arraigned.
He claimed that three residents of the area were injured, adding that nobody died during the clash that started in the Gambari area of Ilorin and spread to the Ipata and Amilegbe areas of the metropolis.
Eyewitnesses had, however, stated that one person died after being hit by a stray bullet.
The CP said, “Regarding the tricycle operators crisis, 19 suspects were arrested, 11 have been charged to court, three were injured in the fracas, while no death was recorded.”
Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that normalcy had returned to the affected areas as policemen were said to have been deployed in the areas to forestall reprisal or recurrence.
