NO fewer than five persons were said to have been burnt to death with many sustaining injuries in an auto crash that occurred, Tuesday, along Enugu-Markurdi Expressway, Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
It was gathered that a Scoa commercial bus coming from Markurdi axis had a head-on collision with a Mercedes Benz car, number plates SMK 605 CD, coming from Enugu at Ohulor.
It was further gathered that following the collision, the vehicles burst into flames, leading to the death of about five persons, who were reportedly burnt beyond recognition, while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
According to Ebere Amaraizu, Enugu State Police image-maker, the prompt arrival of the police operatives from Obollo-Afor Division, prevented further accidents as they promptly removed the wreckage and conveyed the injured to the hospital and the burnt victims to a mortuary at Obollo-Afor.
Amaraizu disclosed that efforts are being made to ascertain the identities of the burnt victims.
