The wife of the President of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari has called for unity, cooperation to bring about development of Nigeria .
Mrs Buhari gave the advice in Lokoja to women in leadership positions Kogi state, during the flag-off of a retreat organised by the wife of the state governor, Mrs Rashida Bello, for wives of local government administrators and other women leaders.
The retreat is to discuss the role of women in driving the New Direction Agenda of the Kogi State government.
The wife of the president, who was represented by Mrs Pauline Tallen, pointed out that cooperation among women in leadership is a key stimulant of development.
She expressed hope that participants would seize the opportunity provided by the retreat to reposition themselves appropriately for the crucial role they have to play in the lives of women and youths of Kogi State towards eradicating poverty in the state.
Earlier, Mrs Bello explained that the retreat is meant to create an atmosphere that will ensure integration, cooperation, and relationship between the Office of the First Lady of the state and wives of local government administrators.
She expressed commitment to address inequality, poverty, vulnerability, and unemployment among women and youths in the state, and to ensure that every Kogi woman is well informed and educated irrespective of religion, ethnicity, and social standing.
