President Buhari has written the Senate in response to their proposal for him to fire the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
Recall that the Senate uncovered Lawal’s involvement in the grass cutting scandal in IDP camps.
The Senate had alleged breach of Nigerian laws in handling contracts awarded by the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE).
Lawal had awarded contracts to cut grass to himself, paid himself, and refused to do the job.
Following a discovery of Lawal’s role, the Senate recommended Lawal’s sack and prosecution.
The President has rejected both entreaties.
