One country, 2 presidents as Barrow says he'd be inaugurated in Senegal, fails to return to Banjul last night

PARIS, JANUARY 17, 2016: (DGW) Gambia's presidential poll winner fails to return to the Gambian capital of Banjul last night as planned. 

However, reports reaching our newsroom here in the French capital of Paris say the winner of the disputed election said he will be sworn in today at the Gambian Embassy in neighbouring Senegal and invited Gambians to attend the ceremony.

The message was posted on Adama Barrow's social media accounts where he invited the general public following Jammeh's refusal to step down last night.

Last-ditch efforts by regional leaders to convince Yahya Jammeh to step down as president failed overnight. 

He lost elections last month, but wants the results annulled citing errors in the electoral process.
