Nigerians woke up on June 8, 2016, to the shocking news of the death of former Super Eagles captain and coach Stephen Keshi.
The former Mali and Togo tactician died suddenly according to his relatives and close associates. He was such a talented footballer and coach. See below some of his throwback photos:
He was laid to rest in his hometown Illah, Delta state amid tears on Friday, July 29, 2016.
The burial ceremony brought together his former teammates, family and friends, who were on hand to pay tribute to a man who was popularly called the “Big Boss”.

It was disclosed in a statement released by the family and signed by Emmanuel Ado, that Keshi who lost his wife to cancer after 33 years of marriage in December 2015 is yet to get over the loss.
“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” one of his close friends said.
