Just hours after Boko Haram suicide bombers killed scores of people in Adamawa state on Friday, December 9, reports from the United States say the country has concluded plans to help Nigeria stop the Islamist insurgents. PM News reports that US House of Representatives has passed a motion that US security officials like the secretaries of state and defence should come up with a plan to help Nigeria stop the insurgents.
It reports that the motion was sponsored by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, a Democrat from Florida and Senator Susan Collins, a Republican from Maine and was passed into legislation through a voice voting. According to the lawmakers, the legislation would allow the US assist Nigeria in defeating Boko Haram in a more direct manner. Collins said that Boko Haram had become the United States’ concern since it has pledged allegiance to ISIS and has been killing people across states in West Africa.
