According to fresh revelations indicate that more people on the list as ambassadors- designate may reject their nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It could be recalled that Buhari last week submitted a list of 46 non-career ambassadors designate for confirmation by the Senate.
Newsdiaryonline learnt that at least “four or five” of those on the list will reject the offer by the president. So far only two of those nominated are known to have rejected the offer.More people will reject their nomination,some sources said.
Those who are known to have rejected their nomination are Dr Usman Bugaje and former Deputy governor of Plateau State,Pauline Tallen.
A source close to Bugaje told Newsdiaryonline that he is “definitely not taking” the ambassadorial offer. Dr Bugaje, an academic, rights campaigner, former member House of Representatives was also one of the gubernatorial aspirants in Buhari’s Katsina State.
An aide to Bugaje dismissed claims that he wanted to address a press conference to reject Buhari’s as “fiction”. Actually Bugaje was in the Kongo Campus of Ahmadu Bello University trying to organize a conference the day the announcement was made.
Also known to have rejected her nomination is Mr Pauline Tallen a former Deputy Governor from Plateau State and associate of Aisha Buhari,wife of Nigeria’s president.
As Newsdiaryonline reported Monday night, she is still nursing her gubernatorial ambition and some of her associates disclosed that it would be ill-advised to go on ‘exile’ now as an ambassador.Her close relationship with Aisha Buhari is said to be making her careful.
Tallen has reportedly said her nominations did not take the interest of other zones in Plateau state into consideration because she is also from the same area with Governor Simon Lalong.The former Deputy governor also said she prefers to attend to her husband who is ill now.
It was further learnt that there was a lot of surprise at the nomination because some of those named were not consulted. Such non consultation was described as very disappointing.
“What some of us find shocking is the incomptence and arrogance by some of those in charge of affairs now .You could accuse former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government of incompetence. Those steering the ship state now have added arrogance to it,”a source said.
Even more disappointing said the source is the way people are being allocated appointment without taking cognance of what they can offer. “See the way portfolios were allocated to ministers.They don’t even have the presence of mind to know where people could fit in, they don’t consult but just go ahead to make announcement .It is very disappointing” the source claimed.
However, Newsdiaryonline has learnt that there are those who have received news of their nomination with joy.One of those known to have suddenly turned critical of Buhari once again started singing a new tune,hailing the president as soon as his name was announced as an ambassador designate.
