Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has written to Senator Bukola Saraki following the dropping of charges of criminal conspiracy against him and Senator Ike Ekweremadu. The Senate president and his deputy have been charged for alleged but the federal government filed a petition to withdraw the charge after an affidavit had been filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory by the litigation officer from the federal ministry of justice, Odubu Loveme, on Thursday, October 6.
Vanguard reports that in a statement through Tunde Rahman, Tinubu welcomed the withdrawal of the case but said all is not well yet as the leadership of the senate still has a lot to do to put the country in order. Tinubu said the All Progressives Congress had the responsibility of fulfilling its promises to Nigerians. The open letter read in part; “History will not look kindly on those involved if they were to squander this fine chance. As never before, Nigerians look to the various arms of government to perform their roles so that the country can walk the path of change and renewal. “May those who are the beneficiaries of this legal outcome now rededicate yourselves to fulfilling the progressive tenets of the APC and to honoring the promises we made to the people with regard to their governance and well being. Now that you have overcome this legal battle, you must dedicate yourselves to helping Nigeria win the greater war against poverty, despair and failure. No matter our past difference, in this effort we must stand united in purpose and resolve. Nigeria must do more than survive. It must thrive.”
