Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has reacted to the recent outburst from the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, over claims that some cabals have taken over President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
Saraki, who made this known through his Media Aide, Bamikole Omisore, on Friday morning, said the fact that Mrs Buhari could come out to openly express reservations about her husband’s appointees, showed that his earlier argument, that the government had been hijacked, was in good faith.
It could be recalled, that Saraki had on June 27, 2016, said some individuals within President Buhari’s government, were running a “government within the government”.
He had said, “It has become clear that there is a government within the government of President Buhari, who have seized apparatus of Executive powers, to pursue their nefarious agenda.”
Although, his statement was widely criticized, as the Presidency described his claims as a “figment of his imagination”.
Recall, that Mrs Buhari had in an interview with the Hausa section of the BBC, criticized her husband’s choice of Cabinet Members, and Heads of Agencies.
She decried that her husband crowded his Cabinet with people he barely knew, suggesting that the government had been hijacked.
Based on her submission, she may not support her husband’s re-election, if the President failed to shake up his cabinet.
Saraki’s comments were conveyed by a tweet posted by his Media Aide, Omisore, on Friday morning.
Omisore said Mrs. Buhari’s comments came “months apart” from Saraki’s own complaint about “the same thing”.
Omisore said Buhari and those who criticized Saraki at the time he made the comments, should understand that both the President’s wife, and his principal, meant well for the administration.
“Aisha Buhari and Bukola Saraki, both have the best interest of President Buhari at heart,” Omisore said in the tweet.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have been reacting to the latest outburst from the Presidents’ wife.
shout out to Aisha Buhari for being the voice of many Nigerians though.
