Goodluck Jonathan has urged all Nigerians to support the President Muhammadu Buhari administration as it fight Boko Haram terrorism. The former president issued this statement on Wednesday, October 12 following a car bomb attack in Muna Garage in Jere local government area of the city.
The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the attack and said about eight persons lost their lives. Jonathan in a statement via his Facebook page prayed for those who lost their lives and for the soldiers who have been working to protect the country.
He wrote: “My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones to the bomb blast in Maiduguri earlier today. I pray for the repose of the souls of the victims. May God strengthen our gallant and patriotic armed forces as the sacrificially carry out their duties of securing Nigeria.
Finally, I urge all Nigerians to support the government to rid Nigeria of terrorism.” President Buhari also expressed his sadness at the attack via his twitter page. He expressed sadness at the incident and condoled with the families of those that lost their lives in the attack.
He also slammed the terrorists for resorting to attacks on soft targets after losing their strongholds in the North East. Buhari also saluted the military for its efforts at stopping Boko Haram so far and said the latest attacks also strengthens Nigeria’s resolve to defeat the insurgents.
